::sigh::

don't you hate it when life gets in the way of your plans/hopes/dreams? you finally figure out what you're going to do with your life, then something gets in the way...

such is life in my house.

interview time!

Niko's questions

1) what inspired you to take up all forms of knitting/crocheting?
my family tends to be the creating type (not necessarily creative). dad makes things out of sheet metal and welds and stuff, builds things, etc. mom can crochet, cook, decorate, make little knickknack-y things for party favors, etc. jasmine is the martha stewart-y one, minus the cooking, add drawing. jillian cooks when she's not lazy, likes to draw. i was an easily bored kid, especially at those parties where you don't know anyone, but your parents do. so i learned outdated things like embroidery and crochet from mom. cross-stitching from chris' neighbor. knitting was kind of a fluke. the summer my back was broken i was tired of crocheting and following/making up my own patterns, so mom let me get a pair of knitting needles and a how to knit leaflet.

2) if you had to have an animal last name (like llamas, say...), what animal would you pick?
qiviut, because it's a neato word and defies spelling rules. if it has to be an actual animal name (since the other refers to furry coating), then i'd say pangolin, because it's also a neato word, even if they're all extinct, and it's kinda like my last name, which i like a lot.

3) how much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
LOL! a woodchuck could chuck as much wood as a woodchuck could chuck, *if* a woodchuck could chuck wood. but woodchucks are usually busy digging tunnels and dens or plaguing farmers to chuck wood. if it could, it wouldn't be much, unless they were small pieces of wood, because woodchucks are only about 1.5-2 feet long. wouldn't want them to strain their backs, now would we? ;) i am a science geek.

4) the cast of all my children vs. the cast of passions in an all out deathmatch. call who kills who, the ultimate winner, and how they win.
gosh, this is hard, considering if you left either cast alone to kill each other, no one would be left. in any case, each side agrees to a temporary truce in order to win, or else this won't work. cast of amc is usually sneaky and backhanded, while cast of passions is well... yes. passions goes first. tabitha and her demon baby summon all sorts of creepy icky things with and without wings. amc scatters, freaked out. except resident bad-ass-with-a-cool-accent aidan. he kills them all with his bare hands (getting his shirt ripped off in the meantime for the fangirls), while tabby retreats to confer with the bosses below. alister crane bribes michael cambiatch to switch sides, and in return cambiatch becomes a double agent. not that it lasts long, rest of the amc cast breaks all the bones in his appendages and duct tapes his mouth shut. small rejoicing. back to death match.

argh. when i think about who should kill who, it doesn't involve crossovers, so i'm postponing this question until i watch more of both.

5) this is a kinda-no-fun last question, but i'm curious: what are you plans for after you graduate?
updated post-graduation plans: do *something*! then, attend cousin's wedding, go up to norcal like 3 days later, be cc's maid of honor :D, possibly chill in sb for a bit and catch fiesta or whatever (ideally), move back home, find work, help out at home, study for GREs or generally prep for grad school. once things are semi-settled at home, go to grad school. (things at home are in general disarray, and it's apparently up to me as the eldest, to fix everything.

and now the rules:
Now, it's your turn!
1 -- Leave a comment, saying you want to be interviewed.
2 -- I will respond; I'll ask you five questions.
3 -- You'll update your journal with my five questions, and your five answers.
4 -- You'll include this explanation.
5 -- You'll ask other people five questions when they want to be interviewed.

additionally, if you *want* to ask me 5 questions, go ahead and leave them in the comments. i'll answer them when i have free time.

today i feel...

tired, achy, angry, frustrated, weary and definitely underappreciated.

no one is home today but me. so again i get to be the one to clean all the mess my family left behind in their mad rush to get out of the house and get on with their studying, MCATs, surprise party plotting, and link crew leader training. there are dirty dishes and pans, random leftover toast and eggs in places of the kitchen. stuff left on the floor, the coffee table, the kitchen table. i just cleaned the house thursday! and it was just fine when i left for pasadena yesterday. and it was still okay when we got home last night. so sometime between 11 pm yesterday and 7 am today, all the mess came to be. house has to be clean by this afternoon, so if anyone needs me, i'm home.

to top it all off, my back and spine are killing me. (it's not the same thing, it's two different pains, thankyouverymuch.)

i was supposed to set up cox cable internet this week, but i haven't had the time(like i have time for anything *i* need to do, and this is for my family since i'm leaving in a month). so i still have dial up and that piece of business to square away.

tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiired... i wish i had someone to drive me everwhere i needed/wanted to go... like my sister does!

miles driven since last saturday --> over 900

if i took those 900+ miles and went in any one direction, where would i end up?

tired. had an unexpectedly busy weekend. am still trying to think up questions for all interested parties and am collecting the questions i asked for. look for questions and answers in the near future.

You're Perfect ^^
-Perfect- You're the perfect girlfriend. Which means you're rare or that you cheated :P You're the kind of chick that can hang out with your boyfriend's friends and be silly. You don't care about presents or about going to fancy places. Hell, just hang out. You're just happy being around your boyfriend.

Friday, August 01, 2003:

an lj interview brought over to blogger...

mainly because i don't want to be wordy or strange on crystalbunny's comments and i don't have an lj account.

1) What do you plan to do with your bio degree?
i used to have lots of things thought up... now i think i want to keep going in graduate school so that i'll be very much in debt, but know an enormous amount about a narrow subject. i am very much unprepared for this since i didn't think i'd want to go to graduate school until recently, so more practically, i would move back home and try to use my degree at sea world, the san diego zoo or the wild animal park. if i couldn't do that, i'd consider being a physician's assistant or medical technician. sadly, i picked a major that i enjoy, but am not sure what i can do with it job-wise. i like animals. i like people.

2) What's the silliest or most dangerous thing you've ever done?
it sounds strange, but i think the most dangerous thing i've ever done is go for a late night walk with one of my dad's friends when i was around fifteen. we were camping with a large group of amateur radio operators (of which i am one) up north, somewhere near gilroy, and after the talent show he asked if i wanted to walk around with him. being bored, i said yes. it was a small campground, not very well lit anywhere. and we talked. and he wanted to hear about my sexual experiences. (none to speak of.) so he went on about all the things he wanted to help me experience and how he knew how to prevent pregnancies and such. freaked me out. eventually i told him i had to get something in the tent and to keep him from following me into it, i said i'd meet him at the group campfire. and i went to bed.

3) Favorite ice cream?
pecan praline and butter pecan. didn't know about butter pecan til my mother told me she practically lived on it while pregnant with me. figures i'd like it now.

4) Do you want children? And if so, when, how many and possible names? ^-^
ideally yes, but right now i'm not sure if i could raise another human being from the beginning, teaching him or her to love everyone and think for him/herself and then expose that child to society and negative thoughts. i grew up raising kids, and i don't know if i could find it in myself to let my own go through all the crap everyone else goes through. at least right now. number? at least 2. and hopefully at least a boy and a girl. seen too many families with all boys or all girls. parents and their son/daughter envy. moms collecting beanie babies and barbies for the daughters they don't have; dads losing their hair and needing to always be the man of the house. names? not really sure, i'd want to take the entire name into consideration, first middle and last. don't think i'd name anyone after my dad, after my friends, possibly.

5) Do you think you'll ever join a coven, or do you prefer to be a solitary witch, and why?
i'm doubting i will, especially since i've been spoiled by celebrating things with great friends like you. solitary isn't so bad. i can do what i feel like and the whole thing can take place inside my head. if i did join a coven, there would definitely have to be people there i can trust wholeheartedly, because this is important and personal. if i can't trust who i'm with, i can't open up completely, and i don't want that.

and now the rules...

if you want in on this...
1 -- Leave a comment, saying you want to be interviewed.
2 -- I will respond; I'll ask you five questions.
3 -- You'll update your journal with my five questions, and your five answers.
4 -- You'll include this explanation.
5 -- You'll ask other people five questions when they want to be interviewed.

that's all there is to it.
